Nate Diaz Back to Lightweight

Well it looks like the Stockton native, Nate Diaz will be moving back down to the lightweight division. He had originally moved up in weight last year following a string of losses to Wrestlers.

Since moving up to 170 lbs, he has rocked a record of 2-2, now riding a two fight losing streak. He bursted into the division with two straight wins. A destruction of Marcus Davis and Rory Markham, Diaz looked poise to make a run at the title and become a serious contender.

Two subsequent losses, both in decisions, Diaz has found on the beating end of the stick. First a ground destruction by the hands of Don Yun Kim and then another handling by the 21 year old Rory MacDonald has put the 209 fighter on thin ice. The UFC has an unwritten rule that veteran UFC fighters are three-and-done. Usually three straight losses and you're sent packing. Maybe this is why Diaz has decided to move back down to lightweight.

This also poses some interesting questions because with the acquisition of the WEC, Diaz has not had a chance to fight anyone coming from under the sister banner of Zuffa. Diaz will have plenty of fights in the near future and whole new crop for him to trash talk and destroy.

Diaz's trainer and manager Cesar Gracie stated:
“I thought the weight cut was hurting him at 155 before, but now he’s walking around kind of smaller because he eats a much cleaner diet, he’s all into these raw foods and everything and he’s just not getting that huge,” said Gracie. “Now I think if he goes back to 55, he’s going to feel a lot better and beat some of these guys out there.”
