ROSENTHAL CAUGHT IN CONTROVERSY

Bellator 35 this past Saturday March 6th got under way in Leemore, California. The night unfortunately was brought down by another controversial highlight. There were hopes that maybe outside the UFC there would be less problems, but unfortunately, this was not the result. This is also a reminder that the Athletic Commissions are to blame, not the organizations.

It all began as Jay Hieron had Anthony Lapsley mounted in the first round. Slapping on a rear naked choke and using sheer strength to hold on, Lapsley squirmed his way out of receiving the hooks from Hieron. After a few seconds Hieron looked up at Rosenthal and said something. That is when Josh stepped in and called the bout off.

An immediate and irate Lapsley jumped up to argue to the call as Hieron walked off with his arms up in jubilant celebration. Josh interviewed later stated that Lapsley did not 'give him his hand' and from there he deduced that Lapsley was unconscious.

This asks the question, was this a just call? If not, should Rosenthal be punished, and if so, what should the punishment be? Suspension from the California State Athletic Commission, or a fine, maybe both? Share your opinion below.
