What To Do With Brendan Schaub?

What is next for the UFC heavyweight? The Ultimate Fighter 10 alum is undefeated following his only loss to Roy Nelson in The Ultimate Fighter finale back in December of 2009.

Schaub has just come off four straight wins, the most recent being a violent KO to the left temple of the now retired Mirko Filipovic. Compiling a record of 8 wins, and one loss he has been a force to be reckoned with in the UFC.

The newcomer has ended all of his fights via KO or TKO, raising questions about his cardio. All of those speculations were put to rest when he went a full three rounds with top contender Gabriel Gonzaga and won via unanimous decision.

'The Hybrid' now sits awaiting his next opponent, whom he should she within the coming months. Exiting the fight with Cro Cop, Schaub appeared to be beaten but not tattered and torn. Partaking in the post fight conference following UFC 128 was a good sign, meaning no immediate hospital trip was necessary.

As he sits and awaits at the helms of Dana White and Joe Silva, BJJardos would like to share it's thoughts on who Schaub should face in the coming months:

1. Ben Rothwell -
His last bout was against Gilbert Yvel at UFC 115 and resulted in a torn ACL for the former IFL champ. Although he did walk away with a unanimous decision, he also walked away with a nine month lay-off for rehab and time to recoup as he gets ready to make another run at a title. He would be a good step for Schaub to face a former champ, and someone with equal punching power and slightly superior ground game.

2. Matt Matrione -
Meathead was on the Ultimate Fighter season 10 with 'The Hybrid.' Mitrione since is undefeated in his UFC career, comprising a UFC and professional record of 4-0 with wins over Kimbo, Joey Beltran, and Tim Hague. This would prove a good match-up as well because both fighters are equally talented on their feet, with a slight edge being given to Schaub on the ground.

3. Stefan Struve -
This is one huge kid. Struve has come off wins over Sean McCorkle, Christian Moorecraft, and Paul Buentello. Unfortunately he has suffered a loss to Roy Nelson back in May 2010, 'The Skyscraper' is poised back back on track to set himself for a title contention. A bout with Schaub could establish a new top ten contender. If these two fought, I believe they would only need one or two more fights to secure a title shot.
