The DREAM Lightweight champion Shinya Aoki has finally found an opponent for DREAM 17, and it's going to be wrestling standout and former Maximum Fighting Championship Lightweight Champion, Antonio Mckee.
DREAM 17 set to take place May 29, has been scrambling to find an opponent for Shinya Aoki. It came down to two finalists. One of whom was Jaime Varner, and the other, well you can figure that one out yourself. McKee was set to defend his MFC belt a couple of months ago, but a knee injury pulled him off of the card.
He then competed in oen fight for the UFC against Jacob Volkmann. McKee lost that bout in a split decision, and was subsequently cut from the organization. McKee then found himself in politics as he was stripped of his MFC belt. There are conflicting reports, Maximum Fighting Championship states that he handed the belt over and McKee reports the opposite, and that they took it from him.
Aoki is riding a 4 fight MMA win streak. As the defending DREAM Lightweight champion, he will the one giving McKee a warm Japan welcome. There is no doubt this fight will go to the ground as Shinya Aoki does not like standing and Mckee has a background wrestling with Dan Henderson.
Once on the ground it will be wrestling versus Jiu Jitsu, the classic tale of who is better. In this case look for Aoki to be the one coming out with the victory. Aoki will jump all over his back like a monkey and won't let go. Look for Shinya to take the back of Mckee early and apply a body lock before slapping on the rear naked choke.
