Drew Fickett Find Opponent for Dream 17

A lightweight bout has been added to the upcoming Dream 17 show as former UFC veteran Drew Fickett travels to Japan to face Tatsuya Kawajiri.

The bout has been signed for the July 16 card set to go down in Tokyo, Japan.

Drew Fickett (41-14) has tasted a career rejuvenation of sorts over his last several fights. Starting out with winning the Shine Fights lightweight tournament, Fickett ended up with five wins in a row as he worked towards a title shot in Maximum Fighting Championships as well.

Unfortunately, Fickett fell to fellow UFC veteran Brian Cobb in his last fight and he’ll look to rebound with his fight at Dream 17.

Looking for a similar chance to rebound, Tatsuya Kawajiri (27-7-2) enters Dream 17 after being blitzed by current Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez during their fight in April.

Kawajiri was coming off a huge win over former champion Josh Thomson, but faced a buzzsaw in Melendez who finished the fight in the first round.

Now Kawajiri will try to get back to his winning ways when he faces Fickett in July.
