Florian to Face Aldo?

Kenny Florian recently came off a very decisive decision victory over the rising featherwight Diego Nunes, who was touted to be in the top ten, if not top five in his weight division.

Kenny Florian was making his featherwight debut and stated if he went on to win this bout, he should be next in line for the title shot against current reigning champion Jose Aldo.

After all the commotion ended Saturday night, it was clear Kenny Florian was a real threat at 145 lbs and is top five in the weight class. So what is next for Boston native?

Well Dana White expressed some interest in that bout when he gave remarks:

When UFC President Dana White was asked, at tonight’s post-fight press conference in Vancouver, if Florian would fight UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo next, he replied “more than likely.”

Aldo was originally supposed to take on Chad Mendes at UFC 133 in August, however an injury sidelined the champ and Mendes will fight Rani Yahya instead. The injury to Aldo is looking more like Florian’s gain with a potential title shot now in line.

The bout could potentially be schedule for September or October, when Aldo should be fully recovered.
